Anne Marie O'Melia, M.S., M.D.
Lindner Center of HOPE, Director of Eating Disorders


Prior to joining the Lindner Center of HOPE, Dr. O’Melia served as Medical Director for the Eating Disorder Program and attending psychiatrist for the Inpatient Youth Services for the University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI), Salt Lake City, Utah. She also served as Medical Director and Consulting Triple Board Physician for Primary Children’s Medical Center, Psychiatric Consult Liaison Service in Salt Lake City, Utah and attending psychiatrist for the University of Utah Child and Adolescent Specialties Clinic.  

Dr. O’Melia has provided psychiatric evaluation, treatment planning and ongoing medical and psychiatric care to eating disordered patients, including those with malnutrition, refeeding syndrome, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, Eating Disorder NOS and many comorbid psychiatric and medical conditions at acute inpatient, residential, and outpatient levels of care. She also provided expert testimony for the State of Idaho and for the State of Utah, Attorney General’s Office, Department of Profession Licensing. 

Through Dr. O’Melia’s teaching experience she has served as a course director, lecturer, course facilitator, resident supervisor and in service educator.  She was named an American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Teaching Scholar in 2005. She presently serves on the National Board of Medical Examiners, USMLE Step 2 Test Material Development Committee.  She is the 2008 recipient for University of Utah Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Triple Board Residency Program Teaching award.  

Among Dr. O’Melia’s honors and awards is being named one of “The Best Doctors in America,” Woodward/White 2007. She was also named to the list of “Future Leaders in Psychiatry” Emory University.  Dr. O’Melia is a member of American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Academy of Eating Disorders, Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, Intermountain Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Intermountain Pediatrics Association.
