Jennifer L. Bellman, Psy.D.

Prior to joining the Lindner Center of HOPE, Dr. Bellman served child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric outpatients at University Psychiatric Services in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her responsibilities included conducting individual, family, and marital therapy and performing neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations. In addition, Dr. Bellman collaborated with schools and health providers within the community about individuals’ care. She also provided education to school teachers and staff about certain mental illnesses and their effective treatments, including school-based interventions. She has valued her collaborative and consultative relationships with multidisciplinary staff and community providers to ensure the quality of care for patients and their families.
Dr. Bellman specialized in neuropsychology during her postdoctoral fellowship at the Cognitive Disorders Center within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She also obtained specialized training in evaluating and treating children and adolescents as a postdoctoral fellow at University Psychiatric Services. Prior to her fellowship training, Dr. Bellman served children and adolescents and their families at The Children’s Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio within the outpatient behavioral medicine program and inpatient medical units. She also provided treatment to young adult and adult outpatients at The Center for Psychological Services at Wright State University and evaluated elementary school-referred children through the Preventing Anxiety and Depression in Youth Program. Dr. Bellman started specializing in neuropsychology within her doctoral program at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. In addition, she served as a teaching assistant for several doctoral-level assessment courses. Dr. Bellman possesses extensive clinically-related predoctoral-level experience at facilities such as the U.S. Navy Family Services Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia, the Virginia Beach School District, and Maryview Behavioral Medicine Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. As a masters-level student, Dr. Bellman served as a counseling center staff member at the University of Dayton Counseling Center in Dayton, Ohio. She also obtained experience conducting therapy with severely mentally ill clients at a community mental health center in Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. Bellman has been participating in a multi-center NIH-funded longitudinal study evaluating neurodevelopmental effects of antiepileptic drugs in young children. Other research projects have included investigating the role of social support and health in adjustment to college, evaluating pain thresholds among individuals with hypertension, and examining the effectiveness of stress management versus drug therapies for tension headache sufferers. Dr. Bellman’s professional work has appeared in Psychophysiology and Annals of Behavioral Medicine.
Dr. Bellman is affiliated with the Cincinnati Society of Clinical Child Psychologists.
