Increasing our understanding of the mind enables us to get closer to eliminating the mystery surrounding mental illness, while pinpointing the most effective treatments to manage and prevent brain disorders.  Mental illnesses and brain disorders are the #1 public health problem in America. In order to change this statistic, we have to understand how the brain is built, how it works, and what brain regions are active during the mind’s many activities.

The addition of the Lindner Center of HOPE’s Brain Imaging Center to the established CIR creates a strong research network in the Greater Cincinnati area focused on studying the mind. This regional network enables two state-of-the-science research institutions to:

  • Benefit from each institution’s resources
  • Share best practices and findings
  • Advance scientific understanding more quickly
  • Increase accessibility for patients
  • Lead the way in impacting the field of mental health through advancements in:
    • Pinpointing problems in the brain
    • Illness management
    • Improved imaging techniques
    • Genetic linkage
    • Early detection and prevention

The Lindner Center of HOPE Brain Imaging Center houses a Philips 3.0 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner for clinical imaging, with structural, functional, and spectroscopic capabilities. The 3T MRI is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved for clinical use and is proven to be non-invasive and safe for patients, while providing an unparalleled view inside the brain.
