Julie N. Hyman, MD
Lindner Center of HOPE, Director, Women’s Mental Health Program; Staff Psychiatrist



As a staff psychiatrist at Lindner Center of HOPE, Dr. Hyman performs inpatient and outpatient responsibilities with a focus on eating disorders and leading and developing a women’s mental health program.

Dr. Hyman is experienced in providing patient care in outpatient, residential, and inpatient treatment settings, with advanced knowledge of women’s mental health, eating disorders, mood disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and psychopharmacology.

Dr. Hyman spent four years in residency at Stanford Hospital and Clinics, Stanford, CA providing care in a range of treatment settings and specialty clinics. She gained extensive experience treating veterans with PTSD in a residential program, which is part of the Veterans Affairs National Center for Excellence in PTSD.  She also provided medication management and psychotherapy to Stanford undergraduate and graduate students through Counseling and Psychological Services at Stanford University.  In addition, she worked on the acute inpatient psychiatric units at both Stanford University Medical Center and the Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Medical Center, as well as in the outpatient psychopharmacology clinics at both centers.

Dr. Hyman’s honors and awards include the Gulevich Award 2010, Alpha Omega Alpha 2005, Charlotte Schmidlapp Scholarship Finalist 2004, and Phi Beta Kappa 2002. Her activities have included facilitating a support group for women graduate students in the departments of science and engineering at Stanford University and volunteering at the Arbor Free Clinic where she provided psychiatric assessment and medication management to underserved members of the community.

She is currently a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
